Brady's Show Record

Brady sired Madonna's litter this spring -- the old Coot! He was hard to live with for a few days -- walking around with his chest all puffed out and VERY proud or himself. He is just an overgrown puppy himself. He's been in to see the puppies a few times but once they start moving in to close, he's out of the room.

bulletJameson's Show Record
Jameson became a US Champ in the summer of 2006. It was a thrill watching him in the ring. He is such a blockhead at home that I was always amazed watching him show. He is now 4 and still very  young at heart. He is very loyal and insists on being "near" -- sometimes "too near". He loves to climb -- not fences -- just about everything else though. I watched him once go from the floor to the chair to the counter to the top of the frig -- VERY proud of himself until it came time to come down!

Introducing Evan. From our Skye Litter, Evan picked us from the start. As soon as all the other pups were off to their new homes, Evan has been out and about with his more adult (term used loosely) family. He, of course, is running the show. Jameson is less then impressed. Madonna is THRILLED. Jessica has taken to the higher couch. Jake hovers and then runs. Courtney and Geneva have a new chew toy and Brady is busy running away from him. Evan is oblivious. Day Two and he is already running and jumping into his crate to eat his meals. It is wonderful having older ones teaching him the ropes. I can't say much for setting good examples.

Jake is now 11 years old. We can't believe it. He is still his independent little self and needs his world to be orderly and routine. He has started grunting when he gets up or down. It's a great grunt and it makes us laugh. He has enjoyed the puppies and, as always, insists on spending time out in the puppy yard with them. Madonna understands this "mothering" side of Jake and invites him in with helicopter tail wags. Lovable Jake -- not much more to say.

bulletIn Memory

I miss this little girl so much. The comfort of having a friend has been taken away, but not that of having had one.

"We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan."

Jessica has been nursing her rawhides while Madonna has been raising her litter. She is absolutely positive that they are puppies and that we should all think the same too. So, we respect her neurosis and compliment her daily on the great job she is doing raising her "puppies". She looks at us very proudly and wags the very tip of her tail. She does forsake her pups every evening though when she is asked to come upstairs and sleep with me.

Madonna is a Mom again in 2007. She is so "in her zone" when she has puppies to watch after. We were not planning to breed her again but she had other ideas. This last time she was in season she was relentless in her pursuit for a Father. She and Brady managed a rendezvous while we were vacationing this spring in TN. Lew and I were standing right there -- we were absolutely amazed at how quickly it happened. We had sent Madonna out in the yard with everyone to see if she had come out of season -- apparently not, we have 10 little redheads to prove it!

She is too too much -- a free spirit if ever there was one -- a Rider daughter, VERY social "in a good way".  She looked absolutely stunning at the 2006 National in Bellaire, MI. This little girl is our "town crier". She announces ANY event -- big and small. Well, announce is a kind way of putting that she YELLS OUT LOUD each and every time something is going on:  WE'RE GOING OUTSIDE!! IT'S TIME TO EAT!! TREATS!! I wish I had her enthusiasm for the common, ordinary things we do each day. She relishes each event as if she just cannot believe that we are going to DO "THAT" AGAIN TODAY!!

Vienna has had a trying time this past year. She came home from Captiva with her daughter and promptly attempted to assert herself to the top of our hierarchy. She was quite surprised when her plans did not come to fruition. She wasn't counting on all of Madonna's daughters siding with their mother. But, her plans did not count as a complete failure. She is now upstairs full-time and rubbing it in everyone's face. She continues to sleep in her crate at night until she learns to ask us to go outside. No matter, it may be a crate but it's an UPSTAIRS crate and that's equivalent to The Ritz.

Courtney continues to mature and come together. She moves beautifully and I love to watch her in the ring and out in the yard. She's a little stubborn and continues to "dance" a little in her stack but once we work that out she should finish easily.

This is Geneva. I can't believe that she is over a year old now. She  LOVES to rough house with Courtney and Jameson -- she keeps up with them too! The three of them play and harass each other endlessly. Nothing better then a used peanut butter jar and a game of keep-away. She is well put together and will be out showing in a few months.

This is Heidi who lives in Michigan. She has a wonderful life there and two really great humans tending to her every need. She was my pick girl from the Sun litter. She has been in the ring a few times and performed very well. She reminds me a lot of her Aunt Jessica.

Oh my Molly! Affectionately known to me as Miss Molly Fancy Pants, she is quite the show girl -- very bold and confident.  She loves the show ring and is AKC pointed. She achieved her UKC Breed Championship easily and has proven to be a star in the Rally and Obedience rings too. She completed her RN, RA and CD in 3 straight trials each -- placing 1st several times and earning a High Irish in Trial. While she continues to grow and mature, Lynne and Molly will pursue the Rally Excellent title, and then go on to try to become one of the few Irish Setters to earn the elusive RAE. Truly her mother's daughter, Molly is quick to learn and delights in inventing new ways to accomplish tasks. She is truly a very versatile Irish, and performs with bright eyes, a light step, and a very happy grin on her face.
